November 16, 2019 - A big wine, not entirely integrated. Not as perfumed as I’d expected. Not overly jammy so that was a plus. Expensive wine.
December 14, 2018 - Excellent pop and pour, but great by day 5 of being opened. This 12 year old wine is pitch black to the edge with a half inch pour. Made from the oldest and greatest Malbec vineyard in Chile. Very effusive aromas greet the nose with violets, blackberry, and black currants. The sip is an utterly delightful mix of delicious fruit, vivid acidity, supporting tannin, and mouth caressing texture. The swallow coats the throat with layered flavors. Overall, Chile's best claim to make the greatest Malbec in the world. So glad I have a full case left to enjoy.
May 14, 2017 - Vermelho rubi, bastante encorpado com taninos integrados, amadeirado, frutas vermelhas, carvalho, tabaco e um toque de baunilha e amanteigado. Termina bem, final médio-longo. Vinho em sua plenitude. Faz jus à fama de melhor malbec do Chile. 92 pts.
November 14, 2013 - Deep ruby core going almost all the way to the core. Black cherry, violet, cassis, vanilla, smoke, oak, with a hint of meat. Slightly extracted for my taste. Tannins gripping. Surprisingly drinkable at 15% abv. Not particularly complex though. Drink within next 5 years.
May 19, 2011 - Viu Manent's flagship, one of the top Chilean Malbec. $42 for the ultra premium wine, how can it go wrong. Intense nose with dark fruit and fine oak. Solid tannin structrue wrapped with freshness, rich and powerful. 15% marked alc but surprisingly smooth. Just wonder whether another few years in bottle will be more rewarding?
June 15, 2009 - 80 yr. old vines, (malbec?), 96% French oak, 4% American oak. Round, 90ish.
