March 23, 2024 - Pnp. Fruit definitely falling away since last tasting note. 30 minute decant needed for the wine to show best. Drink over next 3-4 years.

September 9, 2023 - served 30 minutes after opening. Nice and sweet on the nose, with black cherries and really lovely sweet fruit, as well as eucalyptus. After 1½ hours the wine was still very alluring. Drinking very well tonight.

September 11, 2021 - Definitely has evolved and now showing some notes of tar and smoke, which is unusual for Kistler Pinot. Wine still has excellent fruit, smooth tannins and long tasty finish.

May 24, 2021 - pnp. Can't believe this is 17 years old. Very robust and still 10 years to go. Great fruit, but with the age secondary fruit profile has developed and drinking great right now. Given how well it held up, definitely decant for at least an hour on next bottle.

June 22, 2019 - Nice medium ruby. No amber. Elegant old world style . Really round and delicious. Been stored since release but probably need to drink up.

April 13, 2019 - Medium purple/red color. Aromas of blueberries and candied violets. Fully integrated, medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. This delicious wine was complex and suave on the palate and incredibly fresh for a 15 year old California Pinot Noir and showed no signs of deterioration an hour after opening.

December 30, 2018 - One of the best Kistlers i've had and one of my favorite pinots overall. Drinking great now and drink rest over next several years.

November 22, 2018 - Gift from my wine locker! Nothing detailed, but a thoroughly enjoyable bottle, nicely showing it's age/evolution, nice fruit suggests may suggest RS, but I think not. Rich and complex over a few hours. This bottle could easily go additional years in cellar, but it was a one and only.

June 2, 2018 - Dark red color, initial nose was spicy dark cherry which expanded over 90 minutes or so and then faded over the next 2 hours. Very ripe mixed cherry fruit, spice, and cola were predominate on palate, finish was long with sweet fruit and cola. A decent Cali pinot but the cola notes were a bit overpowering at the end of 3 hours.

May 24, 2018 - My love hate relationship with Kistler is like a sine curve - up/down/up/down - I wasn't so optimistic when I open this 04 Catherine, but this really is Catherine the Great. 14 years old, integrated, evolving complexity through two to three hours drinking, more like a cross between the Rhone and Burgundy than pure Cote-d'Or. Too much sweetness to quite make old world status but pretty good - Bravo!
