November 18, 2023 - Not overly sweet, lightly citrusy with hints of vanilla and some butter.
July 8, 2022 - Tasted Blindfolded. Nose of honey, honeysuckles, and pineapple. Palate is almost pure sugar – pineapple jolly rancher with some floral elements. Finish is short and sugary. I really hope this is a Riesling, since there’s no reason for a white wine to be this sweet.
Blindfold off. Pale straw in color. Still not getting any better.
The Reveal: Barefoot Riesling. On the back, the terms “sweet and refreshing” is highlighted. This is too cloying sweet for my palate. I am more disturbed by the fact that there is a “Refrigerate after opening” warning on back label. It took a bit to find the abv, it was white text on the yellow label, but it’s only 8%. Maybe a few ice cubes dissolved in this wine on a hot day would help.
July 27, 2019 - Nothing like the other bottles I have had. Tart, flabby and cloying.
June 9, 2019 - Nothing complex, green apple w a light, effervescence in the mouth. Great on a 99° day by the pool.
April 17, 2019 - Honestly, for $5 this is not bad. Sure, it is sweet but not in a sickening cloying way. Could use more acidity... did I mention $5 a bottle? Granny smith apples, peach, sweet cream in a pretty simple, straightforward way. For a serious wino, this could be a guilty pleasure.
March 2, 2016 - Very sweet, my husband drinks it as a dessert wine.
January 30, 2015 - Interesting for its value - light-bodied, low acidity, and sweet with apple and citrus notes.
October 10, 2014 - Not as sweet as expected. Thick, and not much taste. Smell some how like Apple.
March 12, 2014 - Just perfect after work over crushed ice.
March 18, 2012 - Quite good for virtually nothing ($4.50). Pear, citrus. It's not something I would use to impress someone, but it's hard to go wrong with this bargain.
