Served at the October 18th North Texas Winos Tasting. Purchased locally at Central Market for $24.00 a bottle. Opened and served immediately without decanting in Spigelau Authentis Magnum glasses. Served alone with no food. Light ruby color in the glass, clear to center. Nose was earthy up front, turning towards mushrooms in the middle and finishing with a slight dustiness. Flavors were mostly cherry with some raspberry amd a tart finish. Fairly well balanced and straightforward wine although I feel the alcohol is a bit lacking. Overall I’d rate the wine around 88 points. Drink at your leisure.

October 14, 2003 - Decanted for two hours. Initial 'funk' on the nose blew off with air time. Dark ruby red, crystal clear in the glass. Nice slow legs. Aromas of cherries, earth, banana peel, bacon fat, smoke, raspberry, and coffee. Very fresh. Medium-full bodied with peppery and cherry notes. Spice and black fruits too. A hint of herbaceousness that was not unpleasant at all and a 30+ second finish. Overall, a delicious Chianti Classico, and one of the better ones I've had in a while.

(Fontodi Chianti Classico) A deep colour, which has lost the first flush of youth. A good nose, although very shy; it seemed like hours before this one opened up to reveal tar-toffee-perfume edged black cherry fruit. Full, round, slightly oily palate, with a mature texture, although still showing a little grip. A weaker vintage I think, making an impact on quality here. Fully mature, but should drink well for a few years yet.
