September 11, 2020 - Decanted for an Hour, A nice Full Bodied Dark Inky Red, Still holding on to some of the tannins even after 4 hours, Lots of Dark Fruit, Black Cherry, Currants, Tobacco on the Pallet. Pepper, Cedar, and some Vanilla on the Nose.
August 25, 2020 - Decanted one hour. This vintage is really singing now with dense savory dark berries, stewed figs, wet earth, spice, and black pepper. Tannins are still chewy and a bit oaky. All is slathered in dollops of buoyant acid. If you've been waiting on these, now is the time. All the experts got this one wrong, nothing over 91! But then the 2006 vintage has had many nice surprises throughout Napa. Thoroughly enjoyable.
May 31, 2020 - Very enjoyable drink!
Showing the slightest hint of amber at the meniscus. Otherwise deep, indigo.
Chewy. Strawberry preserves, fig, some leather, and black pepper on the palate. Nice acidity but not overpowering.
April 19, 2020 - Medium Garnet. Clean nose of pronounced intensity of cooked prunes, tar, cedar, mushrooms, earth, smoke and chocolate. Wine is mature. Palate: dry, medium acidity, high alcohol, silky smooth body and very pleasant and smooth tannins. Pronounced flavors of tar, cooked blackberries, savory, cured meat notes. Finish is pleasant and medium. Very good wine in its prime now. I would drink over the next 1-2 years.
April 1, 2020 - Dark color lots of fruit better after 24 hours. Minimal tannins dark dried cherries some tobacco
December 27, 2019 - Big dark traditional cab with plum, currant and mocha notes
November 30, 2019 - In the decanter for two hours when we started drinking, and it was certainly required, it opened up remarkably. Dark fruit, leathers and earthiness, this wine was sensational drinking. Lots of intensity, full mouth feel, long finish, it's a big wine, but really well balanced. In my view, this is in the prime drinking window now.
May 17, 2019 - 30 minute decant. This was a big Napa cab in a great way. Not over the top in my opinion like Caymus or others in that category. Probably could have used an hour decant as the secondary flavors and a nice acidic backbone really started to show after a couple hours. Just a pleasure to drink right now.
February 19, 2019 - Beautiful aromas with very appealing aromas of great bonfire, seductive coffee, dry leather and dark mature blackcurrant. Really something! Slight careful start, which grows to a medium / medium + bodied wine. Attractive fruit feeling with blackcurrant, coffee, leather, light dry wood and some mushroom feeling. Very nicely bitten in the tannins, which just manage to avoid feeling too rough. Long and comfortable finish with a touch of coffee. Wine that has fifteen years left, but which gives a lot of pleasure after a couple of hours. Shows great potential. 94 points.
February 18, 2019 - Very well made. This wine has a good deal of age to it but has the structure to hold for another 10-15 years. Flavors of ripe dark fruit. Velvety and round. Works great with beef. One downside which seems to present in all of their wines. The alcohol is pretty high at 15%. This hurts the balance of this otherwise fine wine. Without this heat it would score 94/95 easily.
