January 6, 2021 - Let me start by saying that I love old wine. I love their unique aromas and flavors. Aromas and flavors unfindable anywhere else in the food world. These old flavors are not for everyone but can delight those who find beauty in them.

On the nose cooking orange peel & marmalade. In mouth there is apricot, nearly rotted strawberry, and tangerine. They are delivered with a clearly acidic dominant bias. After 90 min the wine became slightly more resolved and remained focused on these flavors.

Notes reflect about an hour to breath in bottle undecanted and consumed over next 2 hours.

December 1, 2016 - Rose potpourri nose, hint of menthol on the finish. Lighter and elegant with finesse. I find older Borgogno’s to be more off than on, uninspiring - but not this bottle, definitely ON.

May 8, 2013 - Complex wine which reaches to many directions, dill, cocoa, tar, earth. Very nice.

February 20, 2002 - Pale garnet colour. Aromatic, dried berry, leather, toasted nut, smoke, and mineral nose. Dry, graceful and elegant, very well-balanced palate. Long, fine finish.
    5/5

Tasted this with my colleague Danny as it is our shared birth year. It was by far the oldest wine I had tried to date and it established my expectations for the potential of long-term cellaring Barolo.
