January 19, 2020 - Blueberries most predominant on the nose with forest heather. This has held up incredible for the price point. This has lots of fresh, cool forest berries on the palate. Nice acidity and a very surprising long finish! I read my notes from the first bottle I had, almost 10 years ago of this vintage and it's still the same. A very well made wine that brings a lot to the table for the price. It's not super complex or mind blowing, but it is a solid Cabernet Franc and I sure wish I had more.

August 17, 2016 - Medium deep garnet red. Nose shows Napa fruit, blueberries, plums, vanilla and graham crackers. Medium body, lots of fruit well balanced acidity and very delicate. Alcohol and oak is very well integrated, this is an exceptional good bottle of wine considering the price. Perfect bottle, best I´ve had of the 05 cab franc. To me this is peak stage now, will drink remaining bottle within this year.

January 28, 2013 - - Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry, raspberry and black currant. It's in total harmony with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Opened at a Christmas gathering with friends at a local restaurant. Absolutely incredible! Perfectly aged. Has always been one of my favorite wines. Soft tannins, beautiful fruit, lasting finish. Bursting with red berries with a soft mouthful. Couldn't go wrong with virtually any pairing.

February 6, 2012 - Great little winery came through with a very nice Cab Franc. Suspect it will drink well for next 4 or 5 years. Enjoyed the vanilla and floral combined with a hint of earthy cedar and smooth finish. A nice value wine as are many from Truchard.

July 4, 2010 - Color: Pretty dark red with a hint of pink/purple.
My very first impression of the nose was "New world Bordeaux". I also got a lot of sweet vanilla aromas. Not surprising considering the fact that the wine has spent 20 months in French oak barrels. The nose has a mix of cold fruit and warm wood. There are some blueberries on the back end of the nose, together with a hint of blackcurrant and pepper.
First thing that hits me is the great mouth feel. Not very complex but everything is so well made and all the transitions are so smooth.
Then there's the tannins. Very very smooth and nice. At the very moment I swallow the wine, the fruit aromas are released. Blueberries and blackcurrant is dominating the fruity side of the wine. A very nice polished and rounded wine, but it's not light or thin in any way.
The 14,2% alcohol is not present in the taste at all.
Very accessible now, and could probably last for a couple of years.
Finally there is the aftertaste. And that might be the main reason for my high rating. A very nice, balanced, long and lingering aftertaste.
