Community Tasting Notes 2

February 4, 2009 - Popped and poured. Medium-plus purple hue. Bell pepper, tobacco leaf, raspberry, red currant, and herbs characterize aromas that are fairly open on the nose. Medium body. Flavors on the palate mirror the nose but come across as rather square and lacking definition. However, the structured tannins coupled with moderate acidity make this an ideal picnic quaffer. Medium-short finish. May improve with cellaring...but probably not worth risking should the flavors of fresh fruit begin to fade. Was expecting a little bit more from a 2005 Chinon.
