September 27, 2021 - The first time I had a Carlisle Zinfandel (well, any Carlisle for that matter) where I thought this has it’s best days behind it. Still vigorous and a very nice wine but lacks the freshness and vibrancy of it’s younger siblings. A joy nonetheless but not as great as younger Rossi’s.

May 31, 2020 - Consumed in a series of Carlisle Zins, these are my last bottles:

    1. 2008 Lingenfelder
    2. 2008 Sonoma County
    3. 2007 Sonoma County
    4. 2007 Papera Ranch
    5. 2007 Montafi Ranch
    6. 2009 Montafi Ranch
    7. 2009 Gold Mine Ranch
    8. 2008 Gold Mine Ranch
    9. 2008 Rossi Ranch
    10. 2007 Rossi Ranch

This version is still very fresh. Required decant and an hour to unwind.

Consumed over two days. First day, still tight, more like a Syrah, in that earth and leather seemed predominant, with prominent tannins. A little -OH, too. Second day, a much more rounded wine, with pepper, plums, and subdued tannins.

    Delicious! Drink up.

June 4, 2017 - This seems to be aging well. It does show some light raisin, but given the vintage, this doesn't surprise me. Red fruited, lots of berry, black raspberry and little crunchy and spicy in the finish.

August 20, 2016 - BLACK CHERRIES, RASPBERRIES, AND SPICE IN THE NOSE WITH BLACKBERRIES AND BLACK CHERRIES IN THE FLAVOR. MEDIUM LENGTH FINISH.

August 8, 2016 - This wine reminds me of a good chateauneuf du pape--savory, smoky, spicy, and full of ripe berry fruit, especially blueberry. The weakness of the wine is that it is ponderous due to low acidity. Still, it won me over. The wine scores high points for power and complexity.
