December 25, 2020 - This one was definitely on the other side of the hill unfortunately.
No fruit left, mostly forest floor, leather and wood aromas and flavours. Short finish with acidity aftertaste. This wine is capable of so much more when younger. Luckily I have two more bottles of vintage 2009!

Still feels young and vibrant. Nice.

December 13, 2017 - Pnp. My first Lafon Rochet I believe and much better than expected, but then I love the 86 vintage as those lower and mid-range Chateaux are holding up very well due to the formerly somewhat tannic and angular structure. Garnet color with just very subtle bricking at the transparent rim. Some barnyard and on the nose, iron, red and dark dry fruit, sous bois, tannins entirely integrated. Not very long but a lot of fun to drink with a Wed night meal at home, and on its own thereafter. Fruit starts to fade a bit around the 2h mark.
Does not need a decant, so would just pnp, no point waiting any longer but no rush either.

April 25, 2016 - Lovely old Medoc with balance and finesse. Cigar box nose, basalt and dried fruit on the palate over a backbone of integrated acid and tannin. Nothing too complex but thoroughly enjoyable.
