Community Tasting Notes 5

January 23, 2011 - Deep ruby with narrow garnet rim. Nose is more youtful than expected. Has ripe red and black berry fruit, cherry notes of sweet spice from oak, ink, black tea, mint and eucalyptus. Has medium body and is balanced. Flavour intensity is satisfying and quite complex. Tannins are still dominant, but the wine seems to have the structure to evolve further for at least five years.

August 24, 2009 - What a strange bottle of wine. The colour was correct, very dark almost black. However the nose and palate were exactly like mediocre Bordeaux in a mediocre vintage, my wife thought of Margaux (the region, not the Chateau). The strange part is that it was actually a decent drink. As an Argentinian Malbec this is absolutely terrible and a very poor effort however if you are looking for Bordeaux flavour without buying something French then this is the wine for you.

June 6, 2009 - Although not quite as dense and powerful as the previous wine (2003 Piedra Negra) it also seems much truer to the character of the grape - typical Malbec and a good quaffer for the 30 pesos I paid (down from 38). Recommended at this price point.

August 13, 2008 - Ruby red with violet notes. limp. On the nose you get red fruits, youthness and oak notes. Medium body, meaty with very good balance and interesting acidity. Mature fruits with notes of blueberries and pomegranate. good wine with fair development.
