December 30, 2020 - Good color and nice bouquet of crushed berries. That was it. Thin on the palate and a dry finish. Drink

February 27, 2016 - Tasted a million years ago. A little sweeter and oakier than I recall.

October 16, 2015 - Mature red berry with dried herb. Moderate depth and intensity, but very good for its level. I liked this slightly more when last tasted shortly after release, so it's time to drink up.

January 2, 2015 - My last bottle of this delightful Sonoma Pinot. While it has soften a bit, great notes of vanilla and caramel, very nice ! Would not hold much longer

August 30, 2014 - This wine had a bit more vibrant fruit earlier on - still a big Pinot but a bit tamed ;) Would not wait a lot longer

September 28, 2013 - Brought to the Hollywood Bowl. Very well made wine that is very true to its roots. Smooth and well integrated, but is more workman-like than exciting. This isn't really a criticism, as I think that approach is the main purpose of the appellation designate wines. It seemed to be fading a little bit, so I can't see extra age being a real benefit. I think the single vineyard wines are worth the extra few bucks, but this certainly has its place.

March 22, 2013 - Exhibit A in the case for putting some bottle age on California pinots. Three years ago, this wine was all oak and simple fruit. Every bottle since has improved, and this one was absolutely stellar. One could be satisfied simply enjoying the aromas wafting from the glass -- macerated red and black fruit and wild berries galore, with interest nuances of forest floor, freshly-cut pine, and a hint of limestone. But why stop there? On the palate, gorgeous, juicy cherry, raspberry and black cherry, with a note of bittersweet chocolate emerging, and hints of baking spice and mineral. Tannins are receding but still provide some structure, offset but lively acidity and a long finish. All overt oak and creaminess is gone. Bravo. One of my favorite pinots of the year.
