A powerful Burgundy with round tannins and well balanced acidity and fruit. At his high level. 93

May 21, 2020 - Drank with friends over a non-aggressive chinese meal. 4th of 4 wines served, a Riesling, 2 Gevry, then the Grivot. Showing perfectly, clearly a sophisticated offering. It was very smooth, and had no suggestion of a thin finish. I think from an age perspective it's great now and will hold for a long time.

    Pleasing and striking aroma

October 17, 2019 - Don’t know what it is but this is that Grivot perfume and spice again. This is starting to get mature forest floor notes. Medium to full bodied and with great balance. A multilayered wine with fruit, licorice and spicy flavors. Would not believe this was a 2007. 93-94p

March 22, 2017 - Pleasurable. Approachable floral, spice, earth and stem nose. Slightly medicinal attack and green finish.

March 22, 2017 - Slow oxed for 2.5 hrs. The nose is really good with wild berries, black fruit, cherries, spice and flowers. Palate is bold with too much oak for my taste. The previous btl was much more accessible. It might have just shut down. The wine will certainly benefit from aging. The oak needs time to integrate. Grivots wine making style lifted the leaner vintage. At this stage, the oak really bothers me.

Burgundy-Report

(Grivot Jean Echézeaux) Wide and quite complex, the nose shows a melange of fruit. Mouth-filling with lots of very ripe tannin and many dimensions of flavour. Less obviously fresh than some but regardless, this is super.
