Can the White Dog land the sku? "The pretense is that I am going to make the great wine from a great site, regardless of vintage. I am going to make the best possible. Now at $16, its a workable price".

January 8, 2010 - Very tasty Merlot for the price. The unpleasant finish of many cheap merlots was pleasantly absent. Light and fruity. A good bargain.

September 13, 2009 - Dark ruby with generous grape, plum, and vanilla on the nose. Nice plump fruits but kind of artificial smelling too.

Soft tannins, mostly one-dimensional fruit, a little hot. Notably sweet...seems a little flabby even. Ostentatious and lacking complexity, a touch too much oak for my tastes. Not much chocolate or tobacco or even berries to get me excited. Medium body and decent finish.

Gets the job done, if a little candied and boring. $12.99 on sale. A good wine, 84 pts.

February 6, 2009 - A little bit heavy on the alcohol at first but that dissipated after an hour or so. Nice and plummy, just a little bit sweet. As it opened up I got some cinnamon on the midpalate. Nice and balanced.
