Nose has posh leather and some tomato
Delicious palate - deep plummy, tomato but a fresh kick. Long finish with tonnes of depth. Lovely stuff.
December 18, 2023 - North & Central Italy offline (Terra Rossa, London N1): Never encountered this wine before and was simply blown away. It had an airy nose showing pot pourri and red fruits. The wine was quite tertiary but not underpowered at all as whilst it seemed light and airy there was well concealed concentration and great purity. Very well balanced and currently in a great spot. I gave it WOTN although perhaps there would have been rivals had they also been at peak drinking.
December 18, 2023 - North & Central Italy (Terra Rossa): My WoTN - has direction, purity and delicacy despite its sunny disposition. Mature with some umami tertiary development and sweet fruit, woody pencil shavings, peppery spice. Soaring perfumed and minty notes emerge with air. Vibrant and resolved on the palate with good length, transparency and clarity.
May 13, 2023 - Color: ruby with bricking
Nose: dusty plum, flowers
Taste: anise, sweet vanilla and plum
Tannins are relaxed and well integrated. This wine is good - I expected a bit more - but drinking well. The finish is soft… and then gone. Has a bit of a buttered popcorn flavor that lingers.
Drink up …. Not sure this improves with more age.
July 12, 2021 - 这只来自 Gaja 的 BDM, 可能更加适合在 3-5 年前饮用. 而不是在现在. 没有足够的陈年能力. 开瓶半个小时, 在杯中醒酒, 气味, 口感, 和结尾都还不错, 而且, 有非常好的果香, 只是机构有些单一, 比较紧. 醒酒一个小时, 快速衰退, 并且带出很多酸的不适的味道. 所以, 1999 这个年份, 如果现在才喝, 还是不要太过醒酒
This BDM from Gaja may be more suitable to drink 3-5 years ago. Not now. Open the bottle for half an hour, decant the wine in the glass, nose, pallet, and the finish are good, silky tannis, moreover, very good fruit aroma, but the structure is a little single, relatively tight. After an hour of decanting, quickly and brings out a lot of sour and unpleasant taste. So, 1999, if you drink now, don't decant too much
December 13, 2019 - Spectacular! Nose, pallet, finish.
February 26, 2019 - Decanted an hour. Still fairly tannic. Well made, good wine. No rush this will last.
January 31, 2016 - This has been an interesting wine for me. Loved it when I bought it then it went through a weird period and now it has come out and its really really good. The tannins are there but manageable at this stage. Great nose, great depth and a good long finish. Well made for sure.
