March 9, 2019 - A little herbal, with notes of thyme, herbs, red fruit and tapenade. Ok with roast chicken with herbs.
August 30, 2014 - A little thin and tart right out of the bottle. We splash decanted and left the rest of the bottle to decant for 30+ minutes. The wine was much improved, with notes of red and black fruit, leather, tar and gravel. Excellent with our roast heritage chicken with a spice rub of sea salt, pepper, sage, rosemary and thyme. Best with a 60+ minute decant and better in 2016 I think. Amazing QPR: we paid $5 / bottle as a case buy.
October 19, 2013 - Jen only. Wine was pretty good but a little closed, vs. prior tastings. Nose of red fruit and tapenade.
Did last the 2nd day, stored overnight in the fridge (pumped). Good with roast chicken with herbs
May 21, 2013 - Very closed, with a fair amount of alcohol on the nose. A decent second wine in that it does have some similarities of profile to the grand vin, only with less definition and distinction. Probably would have been better a few years ago, or maybe a few years from now, as aeration didn't do much.
December 5, 2012 - Bright and blackcurranty on the nose with a nice graphite aroma. Felt a little tight on the palate, there is nice black fruits, cedar and a smokiness, but they all just feel a little restrained.
October 15, 2011 - Medium tannins, dark fruit, tapenade, a little oak. Alltogether nice to drink, but quite strong in taste.
September 23, 2011 - (From memory). We had one of these bottles about a month ago, with roast chicken. We did decant and it was pretty good. Although I have good notes from the 1995 (in 2006), so I think this bottle has a ways to go. Great QPR at our $5/bottle close-out price
July 3, 2011 - Nice, smooth, dark fruit, balanced.
June 19, 2010 - Bottle was not opened while I was there.
January 1, 2010 - Decanted for 90 minutes. Delicious; much appreciated by our guests.
