June 26, 2023 - Long gone. Tried to give it a little air, but it didn't help at all. My last mag, the former showed far better a month ago.

May 29, 2023 - Still red, but brownish all the way in the glass. The nose was spectacular from the get go, making me quite optimistic for this bottle. However, the palate didn't live up to the nose. Not bad, by all means, but still disappointing. It did, however, show itself from a little better point after an hour of air, with a little more complexity with fruit present through the curve, and a lingering acidity holding the wine up. The tannins are polished and dusty. The score reflect this bottles best showing.

November 2, 2015 - A strong candidate for one of the top wines at the Wine Watch horizontal of 1990 Barbaresco versus Barolo tasting, that were impeccably stored in a private cellar. A convincing demonstration of why Barolo is rightly famous for improving with long aging. The evolution in the glass is fascinating and instructive. The just poured glass is dominated by concentrated and powerful tannins that leave the teeth sticking together, showing that the wine is at least a decade from getting near to a peak. In the second pass retasting through all the wines, this Conterno is more balanced and tasty, with refreshing acidity, cherry fruit, and a delightful nuttiness. The third pass unveils a significantly smoother and integrated taste where all the flavors sing together in a grand chorus, lifting this wine into the top tier of the ten wines included in the tasting. You go home bummed out that you have none of these great Piedmont wines from the 1990 vintage in your cellar, and elated to have the privilege of being able to experience them.

May 18, 2015 - PnP, decanted at restaurant. Lovely,delicate-like dining with an old friend-wonderful balance. Finish made you want more. paired well with chicken and veal. Quality will probably depend on storage and luck. If stored correctly no need to rush.
