September 10, 2016 - completely uninspired and lifeless (not corked, just lifeless)
March 14, 2014 - The Pessagno Santa Lucia Highlands is a garnet hued wine with a medium bodied wine. An alluring mix of cedar, roasted beef, rich earthiness, and some raspberries on the nose. This wine benefits greatly from 30-60 air time. Silky and plush in the mouth, with tastes of ripe black raspberries and hints of oak. This is not a subtle style, and can be cloying, and so is better with some food to mitigate the richness. The finish has black raspberry, strawberry, and oak that give a solid lingering finish. Overall, this wine has been a joy, picked up nearly a case out of the close-out bin for under $30. This was the last bottle, and I will miss it.
January 6, 2014 - A Medium bodied, with a pale ruby hue. The nose has earth, cherry and cedar. Tastes of rich cherry and cedar. The style is rich, but this is not over the top. The finish has a lingering cherry note.
April 11, 2013 - Oak, oak and some more oak. Nothing else comes out of this wine. Darker than your average Pinot, some petite Sirah?
April 5, 2013 - A very ripe CA Pinot, not my style, but very good for the approach. Dark cherry and spice, with nicely balanced oak and plum/raisin notes. Nicely resolved tannins round out the smooth finish. A much bigger wine than I expected, but well done.
March 31, 2013 - Great fruit and balance. Spice and earthiness on the back end. Still one more bottle to go
October 14, 2012 - One of the best pinots for the money - huge QPR favorite. Great spices and flavors along with long legs. Only one bottle left in my cellar. Should have purchased more when I could
September 20, 2012 - Always a good quaff....
September 13, 2012 - OUTSTANDING BOTTLE!
September 4, 2012 - - Garnet color with medium forming legs. It's high in alcohol and has flavours of raspberry, dusty and violet with a medium body. Linear texture with a medium finish.
