June 30, 2023 - Dark, brilliant, Imperial Purple (I looked up a hue chart). Initially, had a funky acidity; possibly an addition to fend off the notable ripeness. I’m guessing that in 2007, most-all Cali wineries were still chasing Parker/WA scores and so, the reason this one had so much fruit remaining. Had I not had a taste at the Open House, this would have been a huge gamble at $105. I wouldn’t say that it had lots of time left but it was balanced enough that it was far from gone and very enjoyable, even if kind of in-your-face. Though not my preferred style, the extra point was in respect for its balance.

November 13, 2016 - Delicious and improved on the second day. Could benefit from additional aging.

December 26, 2012 - Maybe it was the food (and/or company), but I really liked this, after not being so impressed with my last bottle 8 months ago. I still don't think you need to wait, but I upped my rating.
December 26, 2012 - Rich and firm with loads of forest, cranberry, beet and smokey mineral notes. Great mouthfeel through the midpalate with complexity and texture but hits a bit of a tannic wall near the finish. My WOTN
August 23, 2012 - 14.5% ABV. Dark translucent garnet in the glass with some violet tinges. Aromas of black cherry and dry earth. Medium-full bodied with a fairly strong mineral/slate streak and some tannin still hanging around. At times firm, other times showing more fruit. Good. 91-92.
April 13, 2012 - Very enjoyable at this stage (no need to wait), but as much as I liked it, it was tough to identify any outstanding characteristics.
November 21, 2011 - rock solid, end of a good run
October 27, 2011 - I think this is in a very good place right now. nothing big and showy but just a lovely mid length pinot. Someone called it reserved but I think that is ok and what it may be aiming for. It may improve still but I won't wait.
