May 6, 2020 - Decanted for about 30 minutes. Some sendiment. Very nice Pinot. Paired nicely with homemade pizzas!

    November 29, 2015 - Corked. In a big way.

  • IJC Likes this wine:

May 21, 2015 - Red berries and cola, bright assertive flavor, light on the palate. A good balance of fruit and acidity, and a pleasure to drink. Food friendly, and also quite nice on its own. Not particularly complex, perhaps because the vines are young, but distinctive.

... Just reread my notes from only a month ago. Same basic finding, though interesting to note the variation from dark berry (before) to red now.

    Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

April 27, 2015 - Delicious. Notes of dark cherry and on the nose, a bit of cola. Very, very smooth - I was advised by the folks at Failla that this was ready to drink, and they are right! Surprisingly darker in color than I remember, and parallel darker in flavor, too. As it warms in the glass, more earthiness comes forward, and there is still just enough acidity at the finish to keep it fresh.
Not profound, not "complex," but very satisfying.
    Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

(Failla Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard) Very dark ruby color; ripe blackberry, very ripe berry, baked berry, lavender nose; rich, ripe Cotes du Rhone-like, roasted cherry, tart berry, tart cranberry, pepper palate with cut and precision and medium-plus acidity (but little Pinot character); needs 5-plus years; medium-plus finish (about 60% whole cluster)
