May 12, 2015 - allowed to decant for 2 hours.
Meaty aromas with plum, blackberry, wild blueberry, leather, violets, with vanilla, oak, espresso, light baking spices and hints of tobacco and fig.
On the palate the acidity is very alive, at a medium+ level. moderate tannins, and pure flavors of blackberry, wild blueberry and plum with notes of game meats, camphor, violets, vanilla and a touch of chocolate, earth and espresso.

April 13, 2012 - From a bottle that had been opened about 4 hours. Deep, dark maroon color. Big nose with blackberries, smoked meat, black pepper, cherries, baking spices, and hints of vanilla and violets. Full bodied with solid, ripe tannins and good acidity. Massive on the palate, full of spicy fruit with just bit of earthiness, but the good acidity hold everything together very nicely. Long spicy finish. This is drinking wonderfully but there is no hurry on this wine.

September 13, 2011 - Decanted about an hour. Deep, dark, inky maroon color. Bold nose with blackberries, cherries, licorice, pencil shavings, smoke, white pepper, baking spices and fresh violets with just a hint of vanilla. Full bodied with solid, ripe tannins and good acidity. The spicy, full throttle fruit and spice immediately flood the palate. Long finish with smoky, peppery, chocolately berries. Intense but does not step over the line. Outstanding!
