January 13, 2023 - Root Day - Decanted off a small amount of fine sediment. Just a touch of browning and faded colour on both the core and rim - still garnet but with some mahogany added in. Nose of dried flowers, dried red fruit, ripe red fruit, salted licorice and crushed dried savoury herbs. On the palate it’s warm with ripe red and black fruit, licorice, spice, dried fruit and just a touch of raisins. The finish is long with the fruit, raisins, spice and light herbs continuing. Warming finish from some alcohol heat (though it’s 13.5% stated). It’s really lovely and no where near over the hill. I purchased on release and kept in a good cellar. As it opens up the Carmenere (even though only 10%, the rest is Merlot) really shows up. I love the mint/eucalyptus it adds to the wine.

January 25, 2013 - Selvästi korkittunut. Olisi muuten voinut olla ihan kelvollinen.

April 9, 2010 - Interesting Trentino wine (Borghetto), a Merlot-based cuvée (90 percent Merlot and 10 percent Carmenère), bordering a Bordeaux (Pomerol). The wine was aged for 14 months in barriques, followed by one more year refinement in the bottle. It shows a dark ruby-red color and a distinguished bouquet of black cherry, plum, tobacco and vanilla. The full-bodied palate mirrors the nose with lush dark fruit, sweet herbs and present but elegant tannins; alcohol and acidity are very well balanced. Long, peppery aftertaste with a little bitterness. Beautifully drinkable now.
De wijn is nu volkomen op dronk.1 person found this helpful Comments (1) -
