November 16, 2020 - Anyone who thinks zin doesn't age well needs to get their hands on one of these. This wine shows layers of bright blue and red fruit supported by mouth watering acidity. Vibrant, juicy and delicious with plenty of life left, this paired exceptionally well with grilled sirloin.

September 17, 2018 - I've had a number of Scherrer's over time - some good, some too overripe, but this bottle was one of the best bottles of zin i've ever had. Tons of depth and complexity without any heft or weight. Opened with Mrs. VeV we were blown away by how good it was and are still talking about it two days later. As good as any of the old Ridge bottlings I've opened. Maybe better. Wow.

October 18, 2015 - PnP by the spouse. Slight bricking color around the edges. Subtle Bordeaux profile with dried leaves, leather, tart cherry. Fine tannins and Earl Gray tea finish. Not big and jammy but then I don't believe I've ever had a Scherrer zin that was.

January 1, 2011 - Beautiful ruby garnet to the rim.A luscious aroma of mixed berry pie - blue, straw, and black - cinnamon and distinctive notes of black pepper and dried tarragon. Silky smooth mouth feel with the pie theme shifting darker to blackberries and figs, with an intense spicy mix of cinnamon and black pepper. Just enough acidity rides in on the rear palate to balance the impending opulence with a brighter touch. Really delicious wine, the best of about 6 bottles drunk so far. Perfect today, but I've never had a Scherrer wine go over the hill.
While it was very enjoyable from the pop of the cork, the wine showed its finest after an hour of air.

August 25, 2007 - Drank the last two bottles. Strawberries and cherries, one bottle was much better then the other.
