September 19, 2015 - PnP at cellar temperature. Presents as garnet with an inky core, translucent rim, and purple highlights. Lots of fine sediment observed in the last 5+ mL. The nose reveals a core of dark purple fruit (blackberries, etc.), red meat and leather, black pepper, and wood characteristics (sweet coconut, woodsmoke, and more). It matched on the palate with a fresh, acidic blackberry attack followed by a woodier midpalate. At this point, the fresh medium(+) acidity was joined by suede-like medium-intensity tannins. The finish was medium length and tasted of both fruit and wood.
This is not the most harmonious wine we have ever had, but given the almost-firm structure that remains in this 7+ year old wine, it may take another few years to fully integrate. This is a well-priced Washington Syrah that we will call "very good-to-excellent," 89/100. -

October 1, 2012 - Deep purple core ruby rim no signs of age from the appearance. Developing bouquet of dried plum, blueberries, toasty vanilla and hints of smoked meat. Bright acidity, dusty tannins dried blueberries and plums carry through. A hint of minerality quite dry. alcohol was present in the nose but calmed on the palate. Medium body and medium finish. Drink by years end to enjoy the fruit before it disappears.

November 11, 2010 - Faded dark purple color with a nose of smoked meat when first opened. The nose mellows with time and features dark red plum and semi sweet chocolate and spice notes. The palate is similar with a slightly tart backing on the finish.

5/31/2009 (link) ** points(Columbia Winery Syrah Columbia Valley) Mulberry, blackberry, and touches of sweet and toasty oak. A dry style that comes across as quite sharp on the palate. The alcohol also seems a bit obtrusive at times.
