July 1, 2012 - Needs to breathe for at least 30 mins. Smell was a bit musty. Tasted a bit of blackberry. Too much tannins for my taste. Not impressed.

August 11, 2011 - Nice dark cherry color Heavy fruit on the nose and equally sweet to drink All ripe fruit with little to no acidity on the palate. This Syrah could easily have been a Merlot, and a bad one at that. Someone recently referred to sweet, flat Merlot's as a "granny wine" and I would say that this Syrah qualifies as one as well.

January 16, 2011 - Good wine, and a great value for the price. Blackberry flavor. Needs to breathe for 30 mins or more.

March 18, 2010 - Smell is full of red grapes, plums, and dirt (in a good way). Texture is smooth with a light tannic bite. Flavor is not overly complex but it's enjoyable - easy to drink on its own or with food. Aftertaste leaves me wanting more. Solid wine for the money.

August 26, 2009 - Smells chocolatey-plum marmalade-coffee-ish. Body is medium-full. Taste is solid and vintage-y (take from that what you will). It's a touch bitter but not offensively so. Aftertaste is very pleasant. Overall a good solid wine. Best with food but smooth enough to drink on its own.

May 29, 2009 - I must confess that my rating of the second bottle is much higher than the first. Is it the pork chop pairing alone? The wine seems complex, fruity, smooth, but lasting in finish and aftertaste. The fruit seemed more alive, fresh and less dark and smokey. The aromas started right away too as fresh. A very nice wine for pork.

April 27, 2009 - A strange wine to me. It started out very thin, like less body than water, with no aromas at all, but the flavor of dark berries is there, though muted by a dryness and fast finish. But with food, chicken, it grows on you. Not a wine I would seek out, but drinkable for light food on a weekday.

With cold steak and potatoes the next day for lunch, about the same. I don't enjoy the "smoky" style of Syrah. I prefer Shiraz.

April 11, 2009 - Simple, light has little texture or density. But has decent fruit and non-offensive.
