  April 26, 2021 - Showing absolutely stunning! Montafi has always been the real deal and this is no exception. Wow!
  Opened in advance to possibly decant it. The nose was roaring out of the open bottle, so I decided no decant was necessary. Absolutely spectacular Zinfandel in a perfect spot.

  May 29, 2018 - Starts off with a clear eucalyptus note, although that fades with air. This is holding up well at age 10, showing mature black fruits backed by a hint of licorice. I’d drink this over the next few years if I had more.

  January 10, 2018 - Never disappointed with aged Carlisle Zin. The Montafi is performing very well now with rich fruit in the nose and flavor. Blueberries, black cherries, and licorice in the nose. Black raspberries and blackberries in the flavor and a nice spiciness in the long finish. This is a full bodied wine with nice structure and complexity. Impressive, and a wonderful pairing with burgers.

  November 1, 2017 - i absolutely hate it when I drink my last bottle of a wine that is as good as this Carlisle zin. I would love to have a few more to follow their development. It goes without saying that this is outstanding mature zin. It just does not get any better than this. Loads of fruit and secondary complexity. If I had more I would probably wait another year to see how this develops but drinking it now really has no downside.

  July 23, 2017 - Beautiful garnet color that was deep, although not a deep in color as the Carlisle Syrah we enjoyed the same evening. Sweet fruit on nose which gives way to sweet cherries and brambly fruit on palate. Lovely fruit mixture. Medium density, mature with no rough edges.
