October 1, 2022 - No notes. Recall it being deep, virtually opaque purple with little complexity on the nose or palate. Disappointing.
November 24, 2019 - Still drinking very nicely. It needs a decant or at least open it an hour before serving. Rich and plush with well integrated fruits and a smooth finish.
July 25, 2019 - I'll start this off with a note that I've lost interest in Syrah lately...
Pop and pour.
Color showed no signs of bricking yet.
Nose was sweetish and I'd swear it was co-fermented with Viognier, though I know it wasn't. Hints of pepper in there.
Palate was super smooth, nicely integrated and had a pepper note on the finish. Other than that, there was a decided lack of complexity and layering. It was very linear in profile. Very nice but not terribly complex.
April 12, 2019 - Deep dark purple color with balanced taste of dark stone fruits. Long finish. Excellent wine.
October 23, 2018 - Loved this again. Same taste profile, had the blood, meat, mineral, and dark fruits. Agree that this coats the palate.
March 31, 2018 - Phenomenal- super well integrated. Took out of wine frig - decanted for a couple of hours before drinking. Got better and better before it was gone - 3 hours later.
March 26, 2018 - Popped and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Developed over that time. Outstanding.
July 18, 2017 - Delicious syrah that went great with steak and chimichuri sauce. A big round mouthfeel with a touch of minerality. At it's peak.
March 18, 2017 - Opened after I saw that Bob had moved this vintage of the Cote Patriarche into the "ready to drink" category on his vintage chart. Wow, was this ever in a terrific place! Blood, meat iron, mineral, blue fruit saturated the palate. Terrific wine that is in a great place right now.
February 26, 2016 - Drinking lovely right now
