March 8, 2024 - Open in the bottle for about three hours. Nose is quite poopy at first but eventually that blows off to reveal…not much. A little smoke, some mushrooms, generally very earthy. Palate is nice, initially full with some ripe plums and black cherry cola. The mid-palate has some nice umami notes, sautéed mushrooms and a hint of roasted tomatoes but the finish is more like a cherry pit and plum skins, a little thin and bitter, which is less than ideal for me. Hard to tell what the story here is. Maybe I’ll wait a while on my next bottle in hopes that it’s just in a weird spot now but I’m not holding my breath.

May 21, 2021 - Lovely right now, perhaps at or right before peak!

October 9, 2016 - So the first 1/2 bottle I drank over an hour after about 30 mins of air....tart, out of balance tar mixed with stewed cherries and beef bullion. Refrigerated other half for 24 hours in a vacuum pumped 375 ml bottle. Let the 2nd half breathe for an hour...nose of cherries and spice...color darker and deeper....dusty Lingrin cherries followed by raspberries....dust, tea, spice....nice tart acids now in check. I think this could have aged 10 more years!

September 25, 2015 - 2004 was the clear winner in our vertical tasting. This one came up a bit thin.

December 26, 2014 - This is a burgundy that is a bit lost on me. clear light plum and raspberry in color, no sediment. tart, smooth, medium acid. Not much flavor range or complexity...maybe went at this too young?

August 17, 2013 - Good stabil Pinot from a nice year and a very good producer. Drink up the next 1-2 years.

July 6, 2013 - Decent profile of a Gevrey Chambertin (non cru). After 11 years I would have hoped for a little more but at only $35 on release, it was a good QPR. Good, inexpensive Cote de Nuits wines are hard to find and I guess I'll continue my search.

June 14, 2013 - Decent wild red and black fruit shine on; medium body; soft and pleasing on the palate with fruit carrying on through the finish.

June 5, 2013 - Couleur rouge opaque. Nez de cerises douces, de vanille. En bouche, le vin s'affirme par des flaveurs de cerises, d’épices sèches. Moderne et excessivement boisé. Girardin - Je n'achèterai plus jamais.
