May 23, 2021 - A decent wine but not getting better and not for $40. Spicy, brambly nose with cherry, cedar around a moderate tannin component.

April 10, 2021 - Nicely aged Brunello with soft velvety red cherries on the palate and a touch of dried garden herbs. Nicely resolved tannins but showing its age which made the finish a little dry but this is a balanced wine showing Sangiovese at its best. It is near the end of its drinking window so suggest drinking soon.

January 22, 2021 - Nicely mature Brunello. Black cherries mixed with loam, meaty notes and underbrush. Vibrant acidity keeps the mature flavors fresh and balanced. Finely grained tannins are still somewhat prominent and dry. This is probably at its peak and should be drunk in the next couple of years.

March 21, 2020 - Garnet colored 16 yr old BdM. Dusty cherry, worn cracked dry leather, This is what aged Brunello is supposed to taste like. Loved it!"

July 4, 2019 - 2004 Dinner at Imperial Treasure to celebrate CL Bday. Pop and poured, drank over 2+ hours. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark red plums, blackberries, blueberries, tobacco, sweet spices. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), chewy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red plums, blueberries, blackberries, dark red cherries, sweet spices, licorice, sweet tea leaves, dusty earth. Bits of leather and pepper with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Fruity and complex. More rugged and not as finessed as the Salvioni. Should still develop a bit more over the next 2-3 years.
Makes the most of the terroir I suppose. I think this is from the Torrenieri subzone of Montalcino. 20/30hl oak casks used.

May 18, 2019 - Prior bottle was 14 months ago and this bottle remains in a very good spot. Black cherry, light leather, bits of red cherry and lots of floral notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied and just like the prior bottle, shows much more redfruit when first opened, but by 2-3 hours in, has more depth and is clearly more blackfruit dominant. Really pretty black cherry upfront which has just hints of brightness, but impressive depth and nuance. Mid-body has density, blackberry and plum before lightly tart black cherry comes in on the back along with minerals, leather and tar through the finish. Tannins provide good support to the fruit, but are very fine grained and pleasantly integrated, providing contrast with only the slightest of dry notes. Integration and balance are where this wine has improved. The mid-body has opened up a bit more and is slightly better tied into the backside and finish. All the various elements seem to have meshed together just a touch better. This wine is at peak, but there's no immediate rush to drink it as it should be able to hold this level for at least another 18+ months.
