May 29, 2020 - Lovely and drinking on all cylinders after a double decant. Great nose, great depth of palate, long and clean finish. This is not an especially powerful wine, as befits the vintage, but it has great dark fruit notes, lovely texture, great balance and complexity that will likely continue to develop.

March 7, 2020 - La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small glass tasted twice tonight from different bottles. I only wrote a note for one, and it was glorious and refined, with showcasing ripe black fruit beautifully and harmoniously.

March 25, 2019 - Domaine Armand Rousseau - Chambertin and Clos de Beze Dinner (Imperial Treasure Shanghai, Ngee Ann City, Singapore): This was stunning tonight - one of the very best wines on show in the midst of a whole lot of Rousseau Chambertin / Beze from the previous decade. A different creature altogether from the quietly elegant 2007 Beze that was paired with, but every bit as good. Maybe even better, The nose had a touch more toastiness to it here, with notes of spice, earth and then red cherries and berries, and just a touch of roasted meat at the edges. I liked the fragrant florals of the Beze a bit more, but this was lovely too. The palate was beautiful, if rather less seductive and charming than the Beze on first sip - probably needing more time in the glass. Where the previous wine was silk, this was more velvet, showing showed wonderful gobs of juicy dark cherries and red berries on the attack and, then gentle mineral, and earth and spice, absolutely filling every crevice of the back-palate. So long and so insistent, yet so understated and controlled. Wow, and wow again. This was just superb. Complete, powerful, and inexorable, yet lithe, light, transparent and completely weightless. This was incredible now, but with some room to keep evolving as well. A great, great wine.

January 13, 2019 - Medium dark red color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Starts out a touch reductive with vegetal notes on the nose and palate, blows off and gains speed with air, lots of ferrous minerality, deeply earthy and damp with shitakes, slowly the red cherry fruit begins to take hold with background pomegranate as well. This feels weightless though the depth is there and almost deceiving; lots of soil and compost, dried rose petals build after 20 minutes along with more subtle fine spice. This has a sleek texture and very soft fine grained tannins. Thanks to my buddy Chablis28 for offering to share this with me. Give it some air if opening now.
