March 1, 2024 - Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Tasted blind. Clear, deep ruby-garnet color. Smoky, dense nose. On the palate smoky, some speck, herbaceous, high acidity, fine, beautiful tannin. Balanced and elegant, long, lingering finish. Seams to me at its peak. 93-94

September 16, 2023 - Académie des Cinquante Burgundy - Germany Tasting (Overveen): Tasted blind. Beautifully matured Burgundy, flirting with Grand Cru level, cool minerality, meaty, undergrowth, matière, perfumed, earth, firm tannins, very good length. An impressively complete package - even more so for a 2007.

August 26, 2023 - This was outstanding tonight, one of the best bottles I have tasted in a very long time. I rated it highly when last drunk in 2020, and this was even better. In a wonderful place now but no hurry to drink - I am going to try and save my last bottle to see what its like at 20+ years.

Medium garnet. On the nose, dried dark cherries, clove, liquorice, Chinese tea, smoke, forest floor, mushroom. Fully developed. Dry, high acidity, med tannins, fine, palate similar to the nose but with so many layers of flavour that change in the glass and on the palate, long finish. Oak well integrated, plenty of fruit concentration. At peak, but likely to have a long plateau, given the structure and the fruit concentration.

February 11, 2023 - In beautiful shape right now. Last tried a few years ago, it was too big and under-developed. It’s really come of age now and is easily one of the best burgundies I’ve tried in the last year (up against some pretty stiff competition). I have a few bottles left but don’t see a rush to drink them - pretty sure trying it in 2027 will bring great results

March 27, 2021 - Quite dark, strawberries, superb balance, deep and long, round tannins. No hurry here. I opened the bottle (Mg) 3 hours before drinking, no decanting

February 28, 2021 - This wine was lighter than 05' in nose and palate. There were more red fruits in nose and body was thinner. Yet it pared great with the T bone steak tonight.

September 25, 2020 - What a superb nose - so much strawberries - on the palette you get a lot of black fruit - mature strawberries, cherries and a hit of rasperries - you also get licorice and vanilla - medium tannins and acidity - in the mouth you are still getting to dominant tannins that are lowering the overall expression of the wine - the wine has great potential - and I will definitely keep my last two bottles for a couple of years before drinking - then we believe this wine can bee very good - for now we will still give solid 94.

August 15, 2020 - Bottle breathe for 2 hours - not open and still quite stiff. After an hour, I decided to put it in decanter for 20-30 min. Slightly opening up, but Esmonin CSJ 2004 performed much better.

July 26, 2020 - Deep core; oomph on nose, black fruits to the fore; easier going on the palate, but has some density. Can be enjoyed now & over next decade.
