April 19, 2024 - Aged Drouhin wine dinner at Hua Ting. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru and Rona.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs.
Nose medium intensity, with aromas of fresh earth, minerality, ripe red cherries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, ripe red plum, earth and minerality currently a little disjointed. Crunchy stones long finish.
Very good quality. Still young and should come together a little nicer in a few more years.

October 10, 2021 - (Bought on release, 1st of 6. Tasted with DH and family over a fine dinner. Cork sound, used Durand. PopNPour, consumed over 90 minutes). Soaring, gorgeous scent, elegant, tons of fruit. At most medium weight. Incredibly seductive. No reason you shouldn't drink now but will hold. One of the best wines of the year for me. Supports the old adage that Grands-Echezeaux is a step up from Echezeaux.

October 4, 2018 - VinoLaprisco Tasting (Restaurant De Karpendonkse Hoeve *, Eindhoven, Netherlands): Two bottles opened. An acceptable burgundy, but a big disapppointment after the previous two excellent bottles. The first bottle is more vegetal than the second, but both lack expression on the nose, and weight of fruit on the palate. Impeccable provenance, so these issues must be intrinsic to the wine rather than attributable to these two individual bottles.

May 19, 2010 - Has very pretty red fruits on the nose with a bit of talcum powder and a slight hint of curry spice as well; perfumey with a sweet edge to the fruit, with a little muddy dirt. Color is medium - not dark, intense. Shows some spice on the palate, some sappiness and pleasing fruit, but definitely shows a little lightness, perhaps reflective of the vintage.

On retaste, I like this a bit more - some sappiness to the fruit on the nose has come out - has more to offer than the Griottes-Chambertin in terms of balance, interesting spice, less bitterness and more generosity to the fruit. 92-93
