August 29, 2021 - Looks not very mature, smells good, but I found the palate a bit hard, sort of like a wine that needs more time, but surely 14 years is enough for a Côte du Rhône from a ripe vintage? Maybe storage in a cold underground cellar was not ideal for this. I'm sure it used to be better. Can't complain about the price though. Last bottle.

January 23, 2016 - Excellent description below from 2013. Is on the downside but still worthy. Drink now.

November 4, 2013 - Dark garnet bordering on ruby. At first whiff I got some heat (hardly surprising at 14% abv!), followed by jammy plummy red fruits. With air a more typical CDR profile revealed itself, cherries, raspberries, olives, lavender and smoked meats as well as a hint of tar. Medium bodied & medium acidity, velvet smooth with tannins now integrated but melting away. Fruity yet with a tarry midpalate. CDR the way it should be, simple, fun & great with food.

October 29, 2013 - maybe this board is rating to price - but it seems to me that this wine significantly over-performs. Pretty dark, nice complex roasted meat and blackberry notes and a firm yet polished palate with decent length. I opened this to put 1/2 of it in a pasta sauce - but it deserves a better fate. Really good for the $

August 23, 2013 - A light and fun CDR. Good red fruit and balance but a little on the simple side.

(VIDAL-FLEURY Cotes du Rhone) 2007 Rhone $7.99 Dear Friends, This was a deal I couldn't refuse. Will the wine change your world? No, but it's $7.99 and I'm sure you can come up with a number of occasions that warrant a 2007 Cotes du Rhone under $8 - especially during a festive summer barbeque for 50 of your closest (or not so closest) friends. Vidal-Fleury, mostly known for Northern Rhones, has completely changed their direction in the South. They decided a few years ago to renew their commitment to excellence south of Valence and the 2007 Cotes du Rhone is one of the first examples of this rejuvenation. If you ask anyone who attended the Blue Hill dinner last month how memorable the 1970 Vidal-Fleury Chateauneuf-du-Pape was, you will understand what their enviable target is. From 60-65% Grenache, 20-25% Syrah and the remainder Mourvedre (plus a few percentage points of traditional varietals), this 13.5%-14.0% alcohol example is actually low-octane for the growing season. No added yeast or enzymes were used and the wine was raised in tank and large foudres to retain its supple style. While merely good in its present form, the 2007 Vidal-Fleury is from an exemplary vintage and it may actually unfold into something even better over the next year. While easygoing and unpretentious, the wine still appears to require another 4-6 months to fully unwind and it wouldn't surprise me if we had a darling of a bargain example on our hands by 4th of July weekend. There are probably reviews out there, but I didn't bother to look (it's $7.99?). ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with impeccable provenance FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 60/person until we run out 2007 Vidal-Fleury Cotes du Rhone Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone8688
