September 27, 2020 - Dark red, a bit opaque. Nice bq w dark berries, some oak, some spices, white pepper. Still plenty of dark fruit (although clearly receding), soft tannins, medium acidity. Aftertaste w dark fruit, herbs, and some alcohol. Time to drink up! Nice, but not much more.

October 29, 2017 - Still drinking pretty young from magnum. Mostly primary with a touch of earth. Still has a few more years easy.

February 23, 2014 - Not bad, but past its prime. Almost no tannins left, forestfloor dominates the palate. Drink now.

January 11, 2014 - Nice wine, but tastes older than it is. Smooth, nice fruit, tannins were hidden at best. Wine is passing prime so I'd drink sooner rather than later.

July 3, 2013 - this was a great bottle of gran reserva with all the classic tempranillo flavors especially for the price, we thank all these spanish wineries for aging all these great wines for us till almost ready to drink. This wine is in its prime right now so uncork and enjoy. SALUD!

April 27, 2013 - From Magnum. Dissenting from the majority cause this was a great bottle of Rioja. Mature nose of earth, tar, leather, red flowers, red and light black fruits, and oak. On the palate it was still great over about 3 hours open with great melange of light red/black fruits, earth, leather, solid acidity, fully integrated tannins. Short but nice finish. No need to decant, some sediment, but not excessive.

October 13, 2012 - Nice wine, not great. Smooth, nice fruit, tannins well integrated but not deep in character and no acidity.

October 3, 2012 - Finally, a bottle that wasn't flawed to the point of being undrinkable. Had a bunch of magnums and all to this point have been undrinkable. This one's a little funky, but workable. Still a dramatic amount of seepage around the cork (perhaps 3-4 oz lost), but the wine was intact and vibrant, given the circumstances. Get the impression the corks they're using are just too small. Silly.

Deep ruby with a tan rim. Herbs, methol, smoke, leather, and vegetal aromas.

Palate is almost devoid of any acidity, just lots of fruit and berry flavors. No real tannins to speak of. Quaffable stuff, but not remarkable, and certainly not worth the (contemporary) price point. Would be wise to drink this now. Hurry.

March 10, 2012 - Mature nose, developed, herbs, dill notes. Well integrated smooth tannins and very complex mature mouth, herbs, dill, intense fruit. Long aftertaste. A very nice wine. Next day in bottle after vacuum cork: totally dead. Really nice wine but drink now!
