May 4, 2023 - Served blind. Brickish red color. This had a smoother texture than the other 2008 Bordeaux. Medium bodied with crushed grape skin, plum, oak and graphite notes. Long finish. I previously had the 1988, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2003. This 2008 was among the best of them with the 1995 and 2000. 95 points.

April 29, 2023 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (EBCC): Blind. Deep color. Tight; dark fruit and chocolate notes. Much more open and expressive on the palate, with abundant black fruit and spice. Finishes with good length but another that doesn't really come across as Bordeaux.

April 23, 2023 - From a half-bottle. The cork nearly disintegrated. Very dark ruby with a black core. Upon opening, a wonderful bouquet of cherry, blackberry, balsam, touch of vanilla, touch of incense, touch of smoke. With time, the fruit evolves and blueberry and blackcurrant are also to be found, with a beautiful blueberry-incense finish at the two hour mark. On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity yet still surrounded by firm tannin and lifted by a good acidity. The tannin makes this too firm to drink as a sipper, but with the appropriate meal (entrecôte parisienne for example), they meld with the fruit in a delightful way. A good length on the final of spices and dark fruit finishing on grape skins. This is really nice. In my book, this is good to go in half-bottles though it can easily keep another 8 years or so. Decant 2 hours ahead of time. Likely longer from full bottles. Next one in 2025-2026. A solid 93
