January 4, 2024 - Bigger and more plush vs the 2007. Also primary still and really a tad too young for me personally, though there is pleasure to be found. Suave black fruits and nicely floral. Full bodied, building to a persistent finish.

January 1, 2024 - Deep purple with garnet red hues. Complex seducing. Lots of red and black currant, cherry and a bit of violet. Full bodied with soft tannins and excellent length.

July 22, 2023 - Match 2023 chez Etienne: Un nez de poivron très marqué mais déjà très abouti avec beaucoup de finesse.

June 4, 2023 - My 1st ch. margaux. Pour some 50ml, recorked and rest in cellar for decantage over night. Good nose and palate of red berries with fair acidity and tannin. Tasted no different in day three. Medium to full body, a more feminine left bank bordeaux.

June 12, 2022 - The 2008 Margaux has come a long way since tasted 2.5 years ago. Though it’s still not fully mature, it offers an irresistible, open nose of raspberry, pencil, and rose which follow through to the palate. There’s admirable depth and tension here - as fresh and agile as it is large-framed. Finishes well. Another 5-10 years will help to cultivate additional complexity but this is fundamentally a classic Margaux already drinking well.

August 24, 2021 - Beautiful nose and palate. Velvety tannins and powerful body. Feels round and has an amazing complexity. Still on the young side, needs a few more years to develop. Start drinking 2026. (IG)

December 18, 2020 - Dec Catch Up @ C@B!: 2nd time this year and this time again, courtesy of MD! See previous notes - this is not ready yet and needs 5 - 8 years more IMO. 92/93

December 14, 2020 - Having tasted some 08s recently that were showing well (youthful, but expressive and lively), I opened several of these for a large tasting. Even with several hours of air, this particular batch of 08 Margaux remained quite tight. Broody adolescence in this case, though it looks like others are finding some bottles more accessible.
