Community Tasting Notes 3

May 22, 2012 - Oh, glad I waited... intense berry flavors followed by chocolate, but balanced overall, not too fruit forward. Decanted for two hours and it really shines. This is right where this wine wants to be. Only one bottle left... plan to consume it within the next 6 months.

February 2, 2010 - Smells a little bit like oak tannin, which sounds very odd. A smell which I associate with Grande Annate from Aviognesi for some odd reason. A kind of cherry liquor like thing going on. This is the vineyard that is planted right behind the Rued's house apperently. It is from the Mezoni clone (?) which is unique because it has such a unique flavor profile. Which maybe accounts for the smell? Reminds me of kirsch that has been matured in a scotch barrel. Yeah, a real scotch kind smell to it -- and I don't mean alcohol. The nose rides through the palate with the flavor, so that cherry and scotch. Balanced and fresh, ncie finish. I would go $29 but would prefer $21. So at $25 it fits.

July 1, 2009 - Sonoma-Napa Trip Day 6 (RRV and DCV): 14.9% ABV. Similar nose to the 2005 with some spices. Light red berry fruit. Tangy attack and not much finish. Not great. $25
