March 31, 2023 - Open for business. Rich and dense.
August 28, 2022 - Beautiful structural complexity powered through the acid as it dances in your palate. The bubbles and overall structure feels a bit constrained at start, concentrating the wine around it. Quite austere bubbles, almost Krug like, bubbles reminding me of sweet brown grains/toasted sugar keeping it all in check.
Paired amazingly with the Sunflower Butter at Eleven Madison Park.
Continual evolution. As the wine integrates, it develops this syrupy richness. Almost sherry-esque, but I've never had a sherry with this much buoyancy and grace. Very rich ripe apple notes start coming off about 1.5 hours after the wine opens, and the fruit flavors really sing at that point.
There's certainly more I can write -- but I'd be doing the wine a disservice. There's certainly a reason why the wines skyrocketed in price -- it almost seems like they're trying to match the 80s Krug in price.
August 9, 2022 - Hand disgorged in front of us by Anselme. It started off showing baker’s yeast and brioche. It as creamy rich with cinnamon spice. There were layers of chalk and citrus fruit and the finish had oyster shell/iodine freshness.
April 8, 2022 - The 2005 Selosse has entered into its drinking window and offering much more than the last bottle I had 5 years ago. Blend of Chantereines and Mont de Cramant. Gorgeous bouquet of ripe and forward citrus and nectarines, sweet oak toast, cream soda and distinctive Selosse sherry like scent on the finish. Energetic and seriously powerful. Fresh and less oxidative compared to the 2008 I had recently. (95/100)
November 14, 2021 - Brilliant golden color. Bottle disgorged 2015. Intense multilayered and complex nose oxidative notes like apple Sherry and fresh roasted walnuts Besides some elegant exotic fruits and some butter brioche. Full bodied with almost creamy bubbles and super long and persistent finish.
November 13, 2021 - La Fete: Gala Dinner (Chelsea Piers: Pier 60): My second time with this wine. The first time was a dinner where I could still wine in a glass and let it sit for the whole evening. There's some of that herbal and spice style, but at this point in the evening I'm surprisingly getting more sugar (which was a flavor I got more generally towards the end of the night so might also just have been the state of my palate at that point).
May 22, 2021 - In magnum. Pour into a decanter to serve. Ripe yellow fruit, white flowers, nut fruit and custard. Much fresher with higher acidity compared to the regular bottle. It shows the vintage ripeness but the vibrancy is there to uplift the wine. 93++
May 10, 2021 - Disgorged November, 2015. Dull, deep yellow. Scents of citrus and honeycomb. Full, rich, long, creamy, and honeyed. Bitter citrus, fantastic acidity for a 2005, and long earthy finish. Just a magnificent bottle of Champagne.
March 6, 2021 - not totally flawed but something wrong...
February 8, 2021 - An awesome Selosse, once again. Deep, complex, a bit creamy, very long, extremely fine bubbles. Has the usual, but subtle, oxydative signature from Selosse. I did not decant it, assuming it was evolved enough, but in retrospect I believe I should have done so. Not quite the shock I had a couple of years ago with their 2002, but exquisite though.
