Community Tasting Notes 2

February 21, 2015 - It was surprisingly in excellent shape and a good example for aging CA cab. Very earthy, medium legs and notable (but relatively light) sediments at the bottom. A good old one, but its best days are about to be over. Very earthy (leather and tabacco, agree on that with the previous note posted on CT from late 2013) and relatively little fruit left (IMHO, less than noted in 2013). I do agree that cedar and earthy/wood notes are stronger. It was, as said- a nice 'surprise' waiting in the cellar, but if you have one (and based on community holdings, you do), it's time to drink it.

(number rating not given, but I would say Recommended, or ~92, again for the value of a single number)

January 17, 2013 - Beautiful old cab with all that is good, but amazingly young and fresh. Nice bricking notes on nose and palate, bt azingly vibrant black fruits, hints of cedar, dark spice, dark chocalate and tobacco. Surprised by backbone of tannins to carry the flavors after 22 years and more life left. Terrific wine for food pairing.
