February 12, 2021 - Found this one in the collection. I had not previoulsy entered this in CT.
    This was a nice wine.
    Good dark ruby color.
Nose offers dark cherries, cinnamon, clove, and violets.
Beautiful rich fruit with vibrancy from the acidity and depth of fruit and savory flavors.
Much complexity. Sandalwood, some forest floor, the clove and cinnamon and star anise notes, cherries and black plums, all weave in and out of the glass.
    Long finish.
Tasted the remainder in the open bottle the next day - it had kept its promise and was still delicious.

September 27, 2020 - The cork has stuck on previous 2008s from WS, so this time I used an Ah So, and cork came out fine! The wine is an amber garnet showing a bit of age and is of medium depth; room temperature this time of year is too warm so into the fridge for ½ hour before tasting.
Before cooling, however, the wine’s fragrance is immediately apparent; there is a certain wild intensity to the aroma with lots of resinous notes along with mineral and then cherry and wild berry fruit; with a bit of air time the wildness mellows somewhat revealing more fruit but still with its underbrush, mineral and crushed rock personality; the aroma is nicely complex and on the wild side! After some air time in the fridge, the aroma is about the same, just more intense and deep with a hint of sandalwood and pine to add to the mix; lots of high notes; this is not an earth and baking spice aroma profile. I'd rank the aroma 93.

Yum! Mouth feel is racy and bright with lots of cranberry, rhubarb, cherry and underbrush flavors balanced with some mineral and crushed rock held subtly in the background with just a very, very faint hint of bitterness on the finish which translates more as a food friendly astringency; flavor on entry along with the mouth feel is truly magical! Flavors in the mouth are razor sharp, though softened by excellent transparent fruit and balancing acidity, and, with time, some palate sweetness; this is not overly acidic but enhanced by the finishing astringency that lends a sense of excitement and tension which lasts into the extended aftertaste. This is a Burgundian style, somewhat like the WS Eastside Road Neighbors PN wine tasted previously; both have relatively low alcohol levels, which I appreciate. Were it not for the color and complexity of this wine, I don’t think I would ever guess it was 12 years old. Flavor ranked at 94.

These grapes come from 10 year old vines (as of 2008), so still relatively young; first vintage with WS was 2003; for young vines, this is pretty amazing wine! The vineyard land appears to be flat with one big hill in the middle of the Russian River Valley.

April 6, 2020 - Really enjoyed this. Doesn’t even really taste mature, just a bit dialed down from early on when it was a bit big.

March 20, 2020 - Thought this would be perfectly ready but in fact, it seemed a bit OTH (lightly jammy and pruney) upon first opening. But the last sip after several hours open seemed to correct those issues and showed the wine nicely, though more tertiary than secondary. If you enjoy mature pinots, wait a bit longer for this one.
