Community Tasting Notes 8

August 31, 2014 - Nose of blueberries, blackberries and mushroom. Colour still quite deep. Refined palate. quite full but also soft and long. For a cab franc based wine this is so interesting and relating to similar bordeaux blends in neither taste nor profile.

June 19, 2014 - The wine is clear and bright with a medium garnet colour and presence of dense legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium+ intensity aromas of truffle, tobacco, very ripe dark plums, vanilla, clove and cedar. The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has medium+ silky tannins and medium+ warm alcohol. It has a medium+ body and pronounced intensity flavours of truffles, cedar, very dark plums, dark cherries and vanilla. The finish is long.

It is an outstanding quality wine with a very nice complexity provided by tertiary aromas and oak ageing, a great fruit concentration well-blanaced by tannins and alcohol, and a lingering finish. Can drink now, but it has enough tannic structure and fruit concentration to be kept 1-2 years more, however it seems to have reached its peak.

October 27, 2013 - Easy to drink. Ripe red fruit, light tannins. Little bit of bacon and smoke on the nose. Went we'll with a grilled ribeye and a baked potato.

March 11, 2013 - Virginia vs. The World - A Blind Taste-Off (Washington Wine Academy): Aromas of smoke, cassis, dirt, leather and a hint of pickle. The palate shows soft tannins and creamy currant and blackberry fruit. Raspberry jam mixes with toasted oak. Very ripe and forward with a hint of tobacco on the finish. The group liked this far less than I did.

January 14, 2012 - Nice body with a surprising complexity. Definitely worth exploring more.
