    March 19, 2021 - 10/12, cork 50% soaked (up one side).
Medium/deep garnet core, narrow pale garnet rim. Nose is attractive, quite aromatic and alluring, plums, black cherry, touch of soil, quite ripe and rich but also with freshness and life to it. Medium bodied on the palate, with black cherries and plums, ripe, quite round and generous with soft tannins but also with decent balancing acidity. The finish shows a touch of liquorice but does peter out quite quickly. Nevertheless this is an attractive, harmonious 2003 which is drinking well and showing absolutely no signs of tiring.

    December 29, 2017 - Decanted

Some sediment in bottom of bottle.

Appearance - clear, pale ruby with a slight browning tinge. Pale rim.

Nose - clean, medium, still smells youthful, perfume quality, getting ripe red fruits, namely strawberry and raspberry, but what is very apparent, maple bacon fat! Definitely picking up strong aromas of smoked meats. Getting cedar and cinnamon. Nutmeg. Chocolate. Walnut.

Palate - very vibrant! Dry, medium acidity, tannins are on the lower side. On mid palate it seems to come alive and you feel a tingly cedar sensation. Alcohol feels medium. Body is medium minus, flavor intensity is pretty powerful. I would not assume an older wine. I’m not that experienced with older Burgundies, however, to me, right now all the tastes and components feel nicely melded together. Flavors I’m getting are ripe sweet red cherry, red currant. Some herbal notes, specifically eucalyptus and mint. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Cedar comes through. It feeels balanced. The only issue I’m picking up right now, there is a bitter stemminess on the finish. It disappears but I wouldn’t describe it as a plus. Length is medium plus.

I’ll be curious how this wine drinks as the evening progresses, however I feel as though it definitely has more life to it and if this is showing signs of age, there is a bright future ahead. It doesn’t seem near end at all. Im kinda bummed I broke into it.

Update - After a few hours of a decent it has started to lose its vibrancy, however, most of the components are still present. Nose smells a bit stale and palate is more about the cedar and the stemminess. The lucious fruit has left. The color has darkened as well. The ruby vibrancy is gone. It’s gotten a bit more black looking.

The lesson with this wine...drink it up,within the first 2 hours. Lowering my rating.

April 6, 2017 - Decanted and drank. Ageing and needs drinking. Smooth and pleasant but not exceptional.

January 31, 2017 - Themed tasting. Didn't standout. Agree with prior review from 2014. Describes this bottle.
