March 11, 2023 - A second wine from Chateau Mouton Rothschild. A fresh and powerful Le Petit Mouton from a wild and quite difficult vintage, made from a blend of 94% CS and 6% Merlot. Medium+ intensity aroma of cassis, graphite, blackberries, wet earth, incense. Medium+ body, rich and bursting with freshness, feels slightly tight and restrained at first, but unfurls after few hours, becoming more elegant and feminine with pure and expressed black fruits along cedar and herbal nuances, concludes with ripe tannins and long finish.

December 29, 2020 - Very flat. Too sweet. Not at all as interesting as most Bordeaux

November 15, 2020 - My one and only bottle ... took it out and tucked it away again so many times ... but not last night !

    + Preparation : drank over period of two days ( day 1 = 1/2 bottle in decanter + day 2 = 1/2 bottle straight pour )
+ Color : showing no age whatsoever, impenetrable deep red
+ Nose : initially very lactic ( rich cream ), but that blew off rapidly. Lots of chocolate, tobacco leaves, dried "herbes de Provence".
Dried leather, it smells very butch and manly. Didn't get that rich deep fruit, but everything was nicely toned down and dried.
+ Taste : some contract with the nose, more subtle, feminine, layered, again some more chocolate and very herbal.
Still quite some spice there as well, slightly bitter, crunchy & chewy at the same time, licorice, more dark fruits.
+ Finish : again, very herbal, medium till long aftertaste, slightly more chubby then in mouth, jammy.

Another great bottle of Mouton produce. Lucky to buy at affordable price, don't follow price setting for this nowadays.

September 14, 2019 - Decanted and aerated for about 90 minutes but this wine clearly needs more time to open up. Deep crimson color and very youthful looking, a very exotic nose of spices, old leather, prunes and dark fruits. On the palate quite powerful, masculine, very strong backbone, a hint of herbaceousness but nothing too pronounced. Good balance and structure and a nice tannic finish. Enjoyable now but should evolve over the next 5-10 years.

September 17, 2018 - Strict, a bit firm and under-ripe, there is a distinctive, herbal edge to the crisp red fruits and firm tannins on the palate. With 94% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, this is the highest percentage of Cabernet used in any vintage of Le Petit Mouton.
