Community Tasting Notes 12

February 12, 2013 - The wine is a dark deep blue-black red. The nose is a sharp bright and slightly musty nose. The first glass was tight, acidic, and very tart fruit -- I really didn't like it at all. The next few glasses opened up and smoothed out to a good but not great wine. The flavors were a bit melded together so the wine did not have any real layers as I judged it. The finish was ligth fruit with oak and smooth but short tannin.

October 24, 2010 - A chap who likes wine should have this on his table. Dynamic in that it was pleasant on the nose and tongue with tobacco hints. I then served it with mango salsa and cedar plank salmon. It stood up quite nicely to the brown sugar caramel and spicy mango.

September 6, 2010 - Can't beat the $10 price point. Smooth and sippable with definite hints of currant and plums. Didn't catch the Strawberry and Blackberry that jwilkey picked up. Tannins notable in the finish

August 23, 2010 - Dark purple. Stewed fruit, and agree with earlier note about cheerios on the nose. Light to medium bodied, nice balance between tannins and acid though leaves firm tannins at finish which is medium in length. A very good wine for the price.

July 2, 2010 - Very nice medium to full bodied, , smooth, ruby red wine with character and hints of blackberry and strawberry is a great value. Montebuena has a very pleasant aftertaste and improved with dinner, a terrific bargain.
