August 11, 2019 - Beautiful wine, aged cherry overstates (non-tart) with balanced forest-floor and subtle wood-barrel textures. I did not feel the depth of what Napoleon would constitute a 2nd growth but it was a fantastic wine throughout. Drink now or 2- more years. Cheers!

July 8, 2019 - I've had 5 bottles until now, which have been consumed trough the past couple of years … This is a wine still evolving, from some harsh tannins to a more smooth and wellstructured wine. I believe the wine will continue to evolve. I will recommend the wine for pairing with beef and especially grilled.
The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, red currant, prune, oak and vanilla. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

June 8, 2019 - After two hour decant, aromatic with still lively red fruit , decent complexity with pleasant round body and imedium+ finish. Really delicious and drinking well now. Glad I own more

June 7, 2019 - 13% alcohol, Margaux, Henry Lurton; Saranty Imports, White Plains, NY; medium weight foil, real cork; medium legs, medium purple/brown; nose of cherry, grapefruit peel, apricots, rhubarb; opened, vinturied and tasted right away at room temperature (23 degrees C); medium to full bodied, muted tannins, muted sourness, citrus, minerals, earth; taste is not as fruit forward as the nose; pair with wild game, chicken, cheeses; medium to long finish; cellared for 8 years -- has aged well; after a night in the fridge the balance of the wine's components improved, as did the finish; my original rating in the high eighties rose to the low 90s

January 4, 2019 - My previous note on this wine wasn't that positive. Now I am! What a nice wine! Peaking now. Great nose. Not too expressive but luring to drink a nice wine. And a nice wine it is. I love the palate; tasty but with enough freshness left to drink it with pleasure without any food. 10 years of bottle rest makes this 2008 value for money.

(Château Brane-Cantenac (Margaux)) This is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a less concentrated appearance than its peers. An appealing nose, lightly perfumed, well into the red-fruits part of the spectrum, tinged with liquorice and Oriental spices. There is clarity here in terms of the fruit profile, but also something more complex, a little like black bean. There is a stony but not hard edge to the fruit, more suggestive of elegance than anything else. There follows a very supple, gentle palate, rounded and polished, showing a little cream in the middle. Very relaxed and composed, with quite vibrant acids here in keeping with the vintage, but there is a structural force buried quite deep here as well. Surprisingly convincing in view of the vintage.

(Château Brane-Cantenac) Dark red violet color; deep cassis, plum nose; tight, tart cassis, red currant palate with balance; medium finish 90+ pts.

(Chateau Brane-Cantenac (Margaux)) This has a light and slightly nutty red fruit that seems typical for this estate's wines when in their youth; this is lightly perfumed, a touch gravelly, overall gently appealing but no more than that. The palate has a light and crunchy style of fruit, with a red berry flavour, a soft texture with a chalky edge, sitting on a gentle underpinning of tannins and acid. Attractive, although in a very lean style.

(Chateau Brane-Cantenac Margaux) Quite an interesting nose here, sweet and sherbetty, with crunchy, violet-tinged, aromatic fruit. Stony, rich, juicy palate, with similar fruit characteristics as found on the nose. This has a lean but still attractive style, with nicely refreshing acidity.
