Community Tasting Notes 4

May 28, 2014 - Very nice Pommard 1er Cru ready for drinking. Medium dark ruby in the glass. Nose of red raspberry and cherry. Some aged burg notes pushing through. Slight hint of balsamic and mint. In the mouth still a nice spine of '96 acidity and some tannins.

October 12, 2012 - Quite a rustic wine ('ca sent de merde', and increasingly with time) but still has a bit of fruit (plums, black cherries...) and a decent mouthfeel. A bit past its best, but still enjoyable.

December 5, 2010 - One of two bottles in my cellar. Was a bit wary after reading other reviews. But no such worries here - wine was great, everything I have come to expect from a great bottle of burgundy esp a good producer. Cherries, earth, excellent balance combined for a memorable drink with dinner. Will look forward to the last bottle!

October 3, 2009 - A Simple Getogether Luncheon (Lucas): Murky red with powerdy muddy sedimentation. Absolutely earthy burg nose with dried dirt covered mushrooms with a strong dose of sweet strawberry compote. Absolutely well matured and just over its prime though still holding its own in terms of complexity and good fruit weight. Sappy cherry fruits with haw juice , plum pulp and lift of tangy orange peels finishing with a menthol coolness. Beautifully aged with dignity and retaining poise. Pretty thick and juicy stuff , its like a middle aged dame that is still quite bosom-ful but of cos dresses very appropriately as accorded to her status.
