Community Tasting Notes 17

January 17, 2022 - Opened and poured. Jammy and purplish....a surprising amount of fruit still on this 20 year old...I would even say it's fruitier than many much younger wines. Plenty of blackberry and jammy grapey plum and sweet blueberry. Still has some acidity to keep it fresh, and almost puckering. Went quickly. Not sensational, but just darn good.

January 6, 2016 - Consistent with my notes of 10/23/2015.

December 13, 2015 - The wine has softened nicely, nose was still complex with some berry and spice, very pleasant. Taste was class petite sirah and went quite nicely with lamb and curried chicken. Still has aging potential but tasting at peak maturity now.

October 23, 2015 - From Art's cellar. Bricking on the rim, crimson in the bowl. Pepper notes over dark fruits on the nose. Deep fruit, pepper and good balance in the mouth. Perfect complement to smoked meats with strong (not hot) spice rub. I do not believe this wine is done yet, a few more years if stored correctly.

April 19, 2013 - Opened on a Friday night. Pours a dark ruby to purple. Fresh sweet ripe bombastic fruit on the nose, showing youth still on the nose with blackberry, plum, kirsch and tart raspberry. Oak nuances and some heat. These continue on the palate, with an acidic octane pulse on the finish. Full bodied, heavy wine for rich meals.
