December 10, 2023 - In a great place, still with nice dark fruit, blackberry with added notes of cedar and spice, good mouth feel, integrated tannins, long finish.

August 26, 2023 - Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass plus over 2 hours. I really like the nose here, there's a woodsy perfume with dried cedar, cassis and plum and anise. The full bodied palate shows blue fruits and blackberries, cassis, tar, with a stong wood streak from the mid to back end that creates a wall of wood spice, anise and some drier austere tannins on the finish. Love the nose, but I think this was probably better a couple years ago when the fruit could balance the oak and structure more. Drink now.

July 2, 2023 - Decanted for one hour. The wine is garnet in color. The nose is cherry, currants, cedar, with a dash of barnyard. The palate is cherry, cedar, vanilla, and menthol. The finish is medium in length. The tannins are integrated. The wine is drinking well.

May 18, 2023 - Very dark red, initial faint dark fruit and woody nose which evolved into gorgeous cassis nose over 2 hours, dense mature fruit on palate, initial oak dissipated after 60-75 minutes of airtime in bottle, mid and late palate remained very smooth with a very long non tannin finish. Seems like this is in a good drinking range now but still has many years left in its drinking window. Will try the 2006 QC Palengat next time we cook a steak.

10/26/2009 (link) **** 1/2 points(Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard Red Mountain) When first opened the nose is fairly shut down showing herbal notes, black licorice, a fair amount of alcohol, and high-toned cherry aromas. Very well put together on the taste with plush tannins. The only detraction is a slight dip in the mid-palate 2/3 of the way through. After decanting for five to eight hours, an aromatic powerhouse with cherry, strong black licorice, dried flowers, and herbal notes. An intense, tightly wound taste that pours around the sides of the palate and then rushes through the middle. The slight dip in the middle is all that holds this wine back. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Galitzine Vineyard, Red Mountain AVA. Aged in 100% new French oak for 22 months. Bottled August 2008; released October 2009.
