December 7, 2021 - A bite of a disappointment, flat and little bitter.

February 26, 2021 - There are a lot of good things about this seriously built wine but this bottle came off medicinal and herbal on the mid palate and finish that just didn't make this as enjoyable as I'd like. Dark, brooding wine with lots of earthy character and flinty.

July 25, 2020 - 4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (R&Ds): Double blind. Inky opaque color. Opens with a resiny note, along with currant and black fruit. Well-balanced. Abundant black fruit on the palate balanced by spice and earth tones. Finishes with nice length. Tannins are firm but very fine. Easy to pick out as a Napa cab. My favorite of this flight. 92-93 pts.

July 31, 2019 - Well...this is massive! It features head-spinning range and depth. Exceptionally well made, and likely to continue its evolution for another two plus decades. Powerfully concentrated, and I do mean powerfully, with medium plus acid and high tannin. This is one of those wines that may not ever fully integrate because the tannin, ripe tannin to be sure, but tannin nonetheless, overpowers the medium plus acid. Indeed, one of the most tannic wines I have tasted in a while. Time, a whole lot of it, will tell. If the acid holds firm, allowing the tannins to integrate, it will be beautiful. 93-95.

November 22, 2017 - A lot to like regarding the dark fruit and some decent underlying complexity but the abrasive tannins on the finish temper my enthusiasm. Definitely better with food than as a sipper. Nose in the decanter upon opening was heavenly led by dark fruit aromas. Maybe a super long decanting would allow it to come together or just another 2006 vintage cab with tougher tannin profile.

November 4, 2015 - Drank over two days. Concur with Bajayngo in that this is more open and lust than the 2004 vintage. Judicious oak treatment, typical of its place, stalwartly structured. It pairs well with hearty foods. Long life ahead of this. 93-94.

September 1, 2015 - Similar in style to the 2004 but more lush fruit with cigar box, cassis, leather, graphite, earth, dust on a fresh framework with framing tannins. One of my new favorite cali cab producers.

March 3, 2012 - Very old world style. Earth, dirt, minerals, leather. Not much fruit coming through. Not what I was expecting, nor my style. However, it is a very balanced wine. Very drinkable - the wife enjoyed it.

March 3, 2012 - A little unbalanced from an acidity perspective. As a result has a short somewhat tart finish - slot of minerality but with the required richness to even it out.
