November 13, 2023 - Opened 3 hours, some change for the better over time. Deep blue and red fruit on palate with both acidity and a complex energy from the resolving tannins. So balanced that that aspect grabs your attention. Paired with Dijon chicken to tremendous effect. Best California PN in quite some time for me.

September 26, 2023 - 12.8% abv. Deep scarlet in color, extremely aromatic. Raspberry, black cherry, cinnamon and Christmas spice highlight an intense, deep, energetic, well balanced and absolutely delicious palate impression. I had several of these and have tasted periodically over the past 14 years or so. The first couple I tasted were a challenge. This one (my last) was just stunning. Age your Rhys Pinot!

May 13, 2023 - Horribly crumbly cork - unacceptable, especially for a luxury cuvée. Very unlike others notes, brick red with an old tasting palate. Still lots of tannins but plummy where it should be vibrant. Disappointing.

May 24, 2022 - Drank with the wine group. Pretty blueberry flavor, mineral structure and a touch of grippy stem tannins and grip and structure on the juicy finish.

September 18, 2021 - Pop and pour. Deep ruby lightening to garnet at the rim. This was one of the best experiences with aged Rhys PN I've had. The nose was clear and detailed with sweet raspberry fruit, dusty earth, and a hint of herb. The stems have integrated into the palate, and everything is in fine harmony now, with the fruit, acidity, and tannins flowing together into a nice finish. There is still good depth of fruit, and if this were a burgundy, I would say it is just on the early side of maturity. Really nice, and to my palate superior to an '07 Swan Terrace drunk a few months earlier.
